An enthusiastic group attends the first general meeting in the new art centre. Art Centre manager, Lorna Martin talked about Arlpwe Art and Culture Centre Inc, the need to elect board members, the rules for the art centre and the need to plan for the opening of the art centre in June.

The meeting was attended by the artifact makers with Lionel James (second right) assisting as interpreter. Violet Downs tells how important painting is in retaining and passing on stories for the Ali Curung people. Joe Marshall interpreted at the meeting.

Artist and writer,Valerie Nelson (right), will travel to Darwin to participate in the Wordstorm literary festival. She will be attending as a panelist and writer.

Maureen O’Keefe (left)and Valerie will be attending five day training with the Artsup programme in Brisbane. They will be staging an exhibition featuring Ali Curung art as a part of the programme. Both women are contributory artists and work at the art centre.
